Rest instead of Ruminating: 6 Tips to Help You Fall Asleep Quickly

Do you know that feeling? You're tired, you snuggle into bed, and… your thoughts race. Your body can't find peace, and falling asleep quickly is out of the question, no matter how many sheep you count. Difficulty falling asleep can be a long-term burden, but with a few simple yet effective tips, you can improve your sleep habits and fall asleep more relaxed.

Here are our top 6 tips for falling asleep faster:

1. Establish a consistent bedtime routine

Our body loves habits and routines. By going to bed and waking up at roughly the same time every day, you help your body prepare for sleep – of course, there can be exceptions, especially on weekends, which we then consciously enjoy.

2. Use relaxation techniques

Breathe in deeply and out again!
Meditations or targeted breathing exercises can help you calm down and release everyday stress. There are already many great and short guides to meditation and breathing techniques available for free that can support you in relaxing before bed.

3. Reduce your screen time before bed

Yes, we know it – watching another episode of your favorite show or endlessly scrolling through social media is tempting. However, every screen emits blue light, which disrupts the production of the sleep hormone melatonin. This means our body stays awake, even though we are actually tired.

Try to avoid your phone or laptop for at least an hour before bed. How about reading a book or practicing your meditation technique instead?

4. Your bedroom, your oasis of well-being

We always say that we believe your bedroom should be your oasis of well-being, and we are sure that the right atmosphere has a positive effect on sleep. Therefore, make sure you enjoy going into your bedroom. Use high-quality bedding, create decorative elements that reflect your taste, and ensure the room is dark enough for sleeping and the room temperature is pleasantly cool.

5. Keep a sleep journal

If your thoughts are racing, a sleep journal can help. Before bed, write down what's on your mind to clear your head.
Our favorite tip for this: Every evening before bed, write down one thing you were grateful for that day or that made you particularly happy. This way, you can drift off to dreamland with positive thoughts.

6. Pay attention to your evening habits

Of course, we know this is not always possible, but in principle: for a good night's sleep, you should avoid heavy meals and especially caffeinated drinks in the evening. How about drinking a lavender tea from your favorite cup before falling asleep instead? Also...

Also make sure you get enough exercise during the day. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator or simply walking to the supermarket keeps you moving and also provides fresh air.

We hope that some of our tips are good for you and your sleep.
